Job Opening: Executive Vice President Government Affairs

Position Summary: Under the direction of President and CEO, and in collaboration with members of the Executive Leadership Team and Stakeholders, leads the Port''s engagement with public officials and the development of local, state and federal priorities in advancement of the Port''s mission.

Working Conditions: General office and sedentary. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 10 pounds. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events. May require after hours to include weekends and holidays.

Functions:

  • Pro-actively anticipates, monitors, researches and interprets legislative and regulatory/administrative actions at the local, state and federal levels and their potential impact to the Port and its customers.
  • Oversees the development and execution of the Port''s state and federal agenda with regard to legislation/public policy in alignment with customers'' priorities and the organization''s mission.
  • Oversees necessary research, briefings, testimony and related engagements with governmental officials/entities to advance the organization''s public policy priorities.
  • Manages the organizations contracts with state and federal lobbyists.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:Bachelor''s and/or advanced degree in, Public Administration, Political Science, Public Affairs or related field. Juris Doctor(JD) degree from an accredited school of law (desirable) Experience:10 or more years professional-level experience in public/government/legislative positions, specifically in public affairs and community relations. 7 years of executive level experience managing a professional staff and external contract lobbyist teams
Testing: Criminal background check, Drug Test

Job Opening: Grounds Maintenance Worker (I & II)

Position Summary: Maintains grounds Port San Antonio property.

Working Conditions: Outdoor work, walking, standing, sitting, hearing, bending, crouching. Employee may be subject to moderate noise, extreme temperatures and hazardous conditions. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally with or without accommodation, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Functions:

  • Mows lawns, trims and edges around walks, flower beds and walls and installs sod.
  • Waters and prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches or twigs.
  • Sprays lawn, shrubs and trees with fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides.
  • Cleans grounds, removes litter and rakes leaves.
  • Spreads salt on public passage ways to prevent ice buildup during freezing weather.
  • Plants flowers, trees and shrubs.
  • Repairs and paints fences, gates, walls, walks and outbuildings when covered with graffiti.
  • Removes debris from drainage ditches and culverts.
  • Uses machinery such as bobcats, backhoes, shovels, mowers, edgers, ladders, fertilizer spreaders and lawn rollers.
  • Makes minor repairs on equipment and sharpens tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Level 1

Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Experience: 0-6 months experience in grounds keeping or related field
License & Certification: Class C driver''s license
Testing: Criminal background check, Drug Test

Qualifications for Level 2

Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Experience: 1-2 years experience in grounds keeping or related field
License & Certification: Class C driver''s license

Other Abilities:

Position Summary: Performs routine maintenance, installation and services heating and air conditioning equipment.

Job Description/Duties:

Installs, repairs and services HVAC and heating equipment, ranging from 1 to 20 tons capacity
Read and follow blueprints or engineering specifications
Mounts compressor and condenser unit(s) on platforms or floors
Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring
Performs preventative maintenance inspections and repairs
Fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts
Installs air and water filters
Bend tubing, cut and thread pipe, use machine or hand threading equipment
Observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to ensure efficient operation
Knowledge and troubleshoot chill water systems, Variable Frequency Drive''s and controls
Perform other duties as assigned

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience: 5+ Yrs. experience Maintaining and repairing HVAC equipment and Universal
License & Certification: Universal Refrigerant Handling Certificate; HVAC Mechanic Certification/License; Class C Divers License
