Job Opening: Commerical Maintenance Technincian

Position Summary:Repairs and maintains physical structures such as office buildings using hand tools and power tools. Performs routine tasks related to the maintenance, repairs and modifications of buildings, equipment and common areas as requested. Operates and maintains approved power tools and light mechanical equipment. Performs basic painting, carpentry, electrical and plumbing repair work of average difficulty in response to service requests.

Working Conditions:Outdoor work, walking, standing, sitting, hearing, bending, crouching. Employee may be subject to moderate noise, extreme temperatures and hazardous conditions. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally with or without accommodation, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Functions:

  • Troubleshoots repairs or replaces wiring and parts for electrical outlets, switches, light fixtures, breaker switches/fuses and fittings.
  • Performs carpentry, electrical and plumbing repair work of average difficulty in response to service requests. (heavy emphasis on plumbing)
  • Maintains grounds by picking up litter.
  • Scrapes, sands and/or applies cleaning agents by hand to prepare interior walls/ceilings for painting and may paint prepared surfaces with brush/roller.
  • Makes minor electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs by replacing wall outlets, unstopping clogged drains and replacing doorknobs.
  • Assists skilled technicians in making major repairs.
  • Operates gasoline powered equipment such as power washers, blowers, weed-eaters, etc.
  • Uses manual strength and appliance dolly to set up tables and chairs according to simple diagrams and to remove and/or install appliances, such as refrigerators and cook stoves.
  • Must have knowledge of Building Construction practices and terminology
  • Must have knowledge of techniques used in the maintenance and repair of commercial buildings and equipment.
  • Must be able to read schematics, prints or as-built drawings and troubleshoot problems
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience:3-5 years of experience in general maintenance and upkeep of physical structures.
License & Certification: Current Plumbing License, and Texas Driver’s License
Testing: Criminal background check, Drug Test
Other Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of: maintenance mechanic techniques.
  2. Work in tight spaces or heights
  3. Operate hand and power tools
  4. Ability to: read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees; ability to solve practical problems.

Job Opening: Program Associate (Part-time)

Position Summary:Provides support to Government Affairs Department, including providing some administrative support and a role in program and legal research

Working Conditions: General office and sedentary atmosphere. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

Functions:

  • Compiles and analyzes moderately complex data and information for inclusion in reports and/or presentation materials, as needed.
  • Coordinates the compliance and adherence to Port guidelines, including unwritten policies, precedents and practices
  • Prepares materials and makes necessary arrangements colleagues regarding conference participation, professional correspondence, scheduling and telecommunications needs.
  • Keeps up with correspondence and proactively communicates when action is needed from supported executives and staff
  • Provides support in the preparation and assembly of reports, summaries or replies to inquiries.
  • Assists in the preparation and distribution of presentations and communications/marketing material.
  • Assists with policy and legislation research
  • Assists with developing plans and strategic initiatives for outreach to various levels of the government
  • Database management
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:High School diploma or equivalent. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:3-5 years of experience in office administration.
Testing: Criminal background check, Drug Test
Other: MS Office Programs
