Thunderbirds to Fly into Kelly Field for November Airshow / Open House

Port San Antonio is partnering with Joint Base San Antonio to showcase Kelly Field in its Centennial year, through an Airshow / Open House to take place November 4-5, 2017. Kelly Field is now a joint use (civil and military) facility, so thousands of visitors will park and gain access to the event and airfield ramp from Port property.

The two-day event will feature an array of aircraft exhibits and demonstrations of aerial stunts and maneuvers.

The program will include the much-anticipated Air Force Thunderbirds, a world-class jet aerobatic team.

Formally known as the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds have performed for millions of people around the world since 1953.

As the F-16 Fighting Falcon jets take to the skies following a sharply-choreographed ground ceremony to kick off the Air Show, onlookers will be able to experience the accuracy required by pilots to perform various stunts with the Air Force’s premiere multi-role fighter jet.

The Thunderbird crew members combine years of training and experience with an attitude of excellence to showcase what the Air Force is all about. In each performance, the team displays a high level of pride, precision and professionalism while representing Airmen everywhere.

The event is free and open to the public.
