On November 4 and 5, thousands of people from throughout the region and even abroad came together at Kelly Field to partake in the 2017 Airshow/Open House. The event was a joint effort by Port San Antonio, Joint Base San Antonio and other partners to showcase Kelly Field during the hundredth anniversary of the site’s founding.
The two-day show featured an array of aircraft exhibits and demonstrations of spectacular aerial stunts and maneuvers, headlined by the Air Force Thunderbirds — a world-class jet aerobatic team.
Other flyover exhibitions were masterfully performed by the Wings of Blue Air Force Parachute Team, 12th Flying Training Wing, Shetterly Squadron, Warbird Aircraft, Trojan Phlyers Racing Team and Tora Tora Tora. Also featured was a dynamic USO Show honoring the military heritage of the U.S. Armed Forces.
