Chromalloy partners with customers to deliver innovative solutions that reduce the operating expense and extend the life of gas turbine engines.
As the leading independent supplier of advanced repairs, coatings, and FAA-approved replacement parts for turbine airfoils and other critical engine components, Chromalloy serves commercial and military aircraft operators worldwide
As a major employer and sales and production operations in 17 countries, the company supplies components, coatings, and advanced manufacturing services to original equipment manufacturers, along with extensive engineering and component repair capability for commercial aviation, marine and land-based aero-derivative, and heavy industrial turbine engines.
Founded 60 years ago as a producer of protective coatings for turbine airfoils, Chromalloy has grown to become a leader in advanced service solutions.
Chromalloy’s San Antonio operation has a strong legacy. Based in three buildings totaling almost 300,000 square feet, the repair and manufacturing facilities at the Port are part of the company’s global network of component repair centers and sales offices. It holds U.S. Air Force contracts as well as service contracts with major airlines and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) providers around the world.
The turbine engine operation at Port San Antonio was developed as a result of Chromalloy’s participation as a member of the winning team on the Propulsion Business Area Contract in 1999, which contracted engine work formerly performed by Kelly Air Force Base.
With the award of a 15-year TF39 military aircraft engine program contract, the operation secured its FAA repair station certificate in 2001 and entered the commercial market with CF6 component repairs that mirrored its TF39 repair capability.
Today the operation at offers a full breadth of products and services for a wide variety of turbine engine cases and frames, combustors, rotating parts, and gearbox parts. And Chromalloy continues to develop turbine innovations for tomorrow.
Helping train the next generation of aerospace technicians continues at Chromalloy. The company has partnered with aerospace companies and technical colleges in San Antonio on an internship program for aircraft mechanics and machinists.
Students in their junior and senior years in high school can test in and enter the program, and complete summer internships to prepare for employment as a mechanic, machinist or Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technician.
Chromalloy will continue to be driven by innovation - and continually strive to develop new and better turbine engine solutions for aircraft operators.
