Recently, several of our community’s brightest college-bound students got to see first hand the opportunities that await them in their hometown following their university studies.

The group, all part of the IDEA Carver David Robinson Fellowship program, had a chance to engage with leading innovators in the aerospace, robotics and defense aviation communities  on the Port campus.

San Antonio Spurs legend, David Robinson, who established the special scholarship and mentorship program that  bears his name several years ago, joined the students for the day-long tour that included stops at Boeing, Plus One Robotics, Agility Prime, and Tech Port Center + Arena.

Many of the students in the cohort will undertake their university  studies outside of San Antonio. The Admiral’s goal for visiting the Port San Antonio campus was to underscore that there is a bright future in technology here in the Alamo City and to inspire the students to return here to work after they graduate.

Beginning in the fall, students across San Antonio will also be able to see first-hand many of the innovations being developed on the Port campus and elsewhere in our community and used across the world.

That’s when the San Antonio  Museum of Science and Technology (SAMSAT)  will be opening the doors of its new space at Tech Port Center + Arena, where an  array  of new exhibits that include aerospace, robotics, cybersecurity, space exploration and more will provide hands-on experiences connecting them to future educational and career paths in some of the world’s most exciting industries.
