SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — The Dee Howard Foundation is dedicated to preserving San Antonio’s rich aviation history while nurturing future innovators in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.
The organization works in partnership with hundreds of area schools and nonprofit organizations — such as the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, local colleges and universities, industry and military organizations and area schools such as the Port’s Compass Rose Ingenuity campus — to ensure that all young people have access to STEM programming early on.
Southwest High School showed its major project in the Boeing Center's parking lot: a working airplane built by students as part of a four-year program.
In March, the Port and the Dee Howard Foundation welcomed over 500 San Antonio leaders, teachers and students to honor the inductees of the 2023 San Antonio Aviation and Aerospace Hall of Fame class while paying tribute to our local aviation legacy and preparing the next generation of innovators across our community to take flight.
The Dee Howard Foundation was established in memory of aviation pioneer and entrepreneur Dee Howard, who supported programs that continue to enhance the aviation and automotive sectors in San Antonio. The organization carries on his legacy by nurturing a pipeline of talented students who will serve as tomorrow's innovators in an array of STEM-based capacities.
