PORT PROVIDES ELF LOUISE A HOLIDAY HOME FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT YEAR

12-02-2019

Port San Antonio is once again providing a big facility and utilities to this year’s Elf Louise Christmas Project.

The large space, located at 3902 SW 36th St., will be used during the holiday season to store and wrap thousands of gifts provided by area residents. The donated items, which include various types of toys and games, will then be distributed to families throughout the San Antonio community. Volunteers will occupy the space from early November to mid-January. Approximately 4,500 volunteers are expected to help wrap and deliver the gifts as part of the initiative.

“Our facility at Port San Antonio has been a perfect fit for the needs of our organization,” states Elf Louise Executive Director Bill Harrison. “The size and level of security that come with our holiday headquarters are unmatched. Additionally, we are conveniently located within a ten-mile radius of most of the families served by the Elf Louise Christmas Project. We are grateful for the relationship we have enjoyed with the Port over the past several years.”

Founded in 1969 by Trinity University student Louise Locker, the Elf Louise Christmas Project works annually in conjunction with thousands of big-hearted South Texans, who donate their time and resources to help less-fortunate children who might otherwise be forgotten. In 2018 the organization was able to spread its cheer to approximately 19,000 children from nearly 6,000 area families.

In 2012, the San Antonio Youth Commission volunteered with Elf Louise Christmas Project doing Santa deliveries. The Elf Louise Christmas Project is dedicated to providing a little bit of joy to Bexar County's less fortunate children through the donation of holiday gifts.
