Company will use facility to develop cyber solutions for the U.S. Air Force and collaborate with region’s industry and academic partners
SAN ANTONIO, TX — General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics, recently opened its new cybersecurity facility at the Port — where key customers, technology partners and community leaders gathered to celebrate the important milestone for the company and local community.

GDIT will utilize its new space to develop advanced cyber and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance solutions to support the Sixteenth Air Force (Air Forces Cyber) headquartered on the Port campus and at neighboring Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.
"San Antonio is a strategic cyber hub for the Air Force and is the nation's second largest cybersecurity community," said Brian Sheridan, GDIT's Senior Vice President for defense. "Given its incredible potential, we see a great opportunity to leverage our cyber expertise and grow our footprint. Our investments will also further expand the city's tech workforce and drive innovation in the region."

"GDIT is about innovation and integrating technologies; we are an information technology company," said Peter Lambert, GDIT Vice President of Air Force C5ISR Programs. "When you think about people out in the field doing things, we're the ones that want to be connecting them — providing them information technologies to better enable their ability to go about and do their business."
"We're very excited to be in San Antonio," said GDIT Vice President Hans Hollister. "We actually have been supporting the San Antonio area for some time, but having this actual building here really is exciting for us because it can be able to not only build our customer base that we have, but also be that partner in the community."
As the largest technology campus in the Alamo City, the Port is at the center of the community's significant growth in information security and related sectors. It is home to more than 80 public and private sector enterprises, including a rapidly growing ecosystem of locally based startups. GDIT will partner with these companies and academic institutions such as the University of Texas at San Antonio, which houses some of the top cybersecurity programs in the nation, to cultivate a talent pipeline of IT innovators and technologists through internship opportunities and mentorship programs.
"We are proud to add a global name like GDIT to our thriving campus," said Port San Antonio President and CEO Jim Perschbach. "The company's commitment to innovation, partnership and education capture the very essence of our work at the Port: to create a vibrant community where people can channel their talents, make strategic connections and collaborate together to develop the latest technologies that make our world a safer, more productive and more resilient place."

"The ability for GDIT to open a formal office and build a team at the Port is really going to drive value to our ecosystem, both because of the technologies they have across the spectrum of health care, aerospace, defense, cybersecurity and intelligence, but also their willingness to partner with smaller businesses, build teams and solve unique problems for the government," said Port San Antonio Vice President of Talent & Technology Development & Integration Will Garrett.
Thanks to a vast and growing array of highly specialized commercial and industrial spaces — combined with strategic business and talent development support — industries based at the Port are connecting with one another as they deliver technological innovations that are transforming mature industry sectors regionally, nationally and globally.
"We are looking for a lot of Systems Administrators, Network Engineers and System Engineers," said GDIT Talent Acquisition Specialist Ed Martino.
GDIT's new facility will initially support up to 50 new high-tech jobs with additional positions expected as the company's operations expand in the region.
